Open to individuals who are interested in pursuing postdoctoral neuroscience research, the Tishman Fellowship provides support for pairing postdoctoral researchers with early career faculty who are embracing new technologies and conceptual frameworks, to train a new generation of independent academic scientists. Fellows are provided with financial support, broad-based mentorship, and a formal training plan, as well as the state-of-the-art research facilities and the collegial and supportive environment at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Underrepresented groups are particularly encouraged to apply.
Fellows will be provided with:
- A mentoring committee composed of faculty members at different career stages and with diverse areas of expertise.
- A formal career development plan, including training on grant writing, trainee mentorship, academic job applications, among other support and learning opportunities.
- An annual expense budget of $10,000 for lab supplies and travel.
- A salary of $75,000 annually for up to 3 years, renewable annually.
Applicants are encouraged to identify a faculty sponsor with an Assistant Professor appointment from among the list of faculty members at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and contact them early in the process to determine fit and availability.

Tishman Fellows are expected to organize a mentorship committee within 6 months of the start date of the fellowship, this committee will include the chair of the Neuroscience department as an ad-hoc member. Fellows should also prepare and submit a career development plan with a timeline for their projects and future job search, as well as a selection of conferences and training courses that they are planning to attend/present at. Annual progress reports are due on the anniversary of the award, and Tishman Fellows are also expected to present their research annually at the department’s Tishman symposium.
