Beth McLellan graduated with honors from Northwestern University and attended medical school at Wayne State University where she graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha honors. She completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Loyola University Health System and her Dermatology residency at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit where she also served as Chief Resident. She currently is an Associate Professor, director of Dermatology for the North Bronx Healthcare Network, and director of Supportive Oncodermatology for the Montefiore-Einstein Center for Cancer Care.
Dr. McLellan specializes in complex medical Dermatology and has a special interest in Supportive Oncodermatology - the treatment of dermatologic diseases in cancer patients. She works closely with oncologists to prevent and treat skin, hair, and nail-related side effects due to cancer therapies and is committed to improving the lives of cancer patients.
Dr. McLellan leads research examining the role of bacteria in the development of radiation dermatitis and was the first to describe baseline bacterial colonization as a risk factor for severe radiation dermatitis. She has published numerous articles and textbook chapters related to Supportive Oncodermatology. She is regularly invited to speak at Dermatology and Oncology conferences including the annual meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology, Gilda's Club and the International Symposium for Supportive Care in Cancer.
Playing an active role in the Albert Einstein Dermatology Residency, Dr. McLellan oversees resident clinics at Jacobi Medical Center, is the director of resident research, and regularly lectures residents and medical students. She has served as a mentor to many residents and students and directs a year long Oncodermatology research fellowship for medical students taking a year off for research. She has had 3 prior fellows successfully match into dermatology residencies, publish articles, present abstracts and posters, and win research awards.
